Biography of Celebrity Actress Amy Sedaris
Amy Sedaris born on March 29th, 1961 in Endicott, New York is a beautiful American actress, comedienne and writer. Amy is best known as Jerri Blank on the Comedy Central's "Strangers with Candy".
Amy Sedaris is the daughter of Sharon and Lou Sedaris. She was raised in North Carolina. Her brother David Sedaris is a writer and humorist. Amy Sedaris began performing with the 'Second City' and 'Annoyance Theater' comedy troupes based in Chicago. She later moved to New York City to join her brother, David Sedaris to write plays in tow with him. The duo Amy Sedaris and David Sedaris who call themselves as 'The Talent Family' has together written, directed and acted in many a stage plays in New York City winning Obie and Drama Desk Awards. The duo has written several plays "Stump the Host' {1993}, "Stitches" {1994}, "One Woman Shoe" {1995}, "Incident at Cobblers Knob" {1997}, "The Little Frieda Mysteries" {1997} and "The Book of Liz".
Amy Sedaris has also teamed up with Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert to write and act in a comedy sketch show on Comedy Central "Exit 57" {12 episodes: 1995-1996}. "Exit 57" is based on Amy's views on the 1970s motivational speaker Florrie Fisher. Amy Sedaris has also written and played the role of Jerri Blank in "Strangers with Candy" {30 episodes: 1999-2000}. She has also appeared in the film version of "Strangers with Candy" {2005} besides acting in several movies and single episode television dramas. "Bad Bosses Go to Hell" (1997), "Just Shoot Me!" {2 episodes: 2001}, "Sex and the City" {4 episodes: 2002-2003}, and movies like "Maid in Manhattan" {2002}, "The School of Rock" {2003}, "Full Grown Men" {2006} and so on. Earlier Amy appeared in a made-for-television movie "Big Deals" in 1991.
Sedaris has co-authored a novel 'Wigfield: The Can Do Town That Just May Not' along with Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert published in 2004. Her book 'I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence' published in 2006 is all about throwing parties. It serves as a useful guide from hosting parties to treating guests with various kinds of recipes. Sedaris also writes a monthly column in 'The Believer'. Amy Sedaris, when not acting or writing, runs a cupcake and cheese ball business known as 'Dusty Food Cupcakes' from her kitchenette.
